BEN’S AMERICAN BEEF BURGER
Ingredients (Makes 4 Burgers)
For the Patties
-
500 g (1 lb) ground beef, 80/20 fat ratio
-
1 tsp kosher salt
-
½ tsp black pepper
-
1 tsp garlic powder
-
1 tsp onion powder
-
1 tsp smoked paprika (Ben’s signature touch)
-
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
For the Buns & Toppings
-
4 burger buns, toasted
-
4 slices American cheese (or cheddar)
-
1 large tomato, sliced
-
Crisp lettuce leaves
-
Thin-sliced red onion
-
Pickles
-
Ketchup, mustard, mayo
Instructions
1. Make Ben’s Patties
-
In a mixing bowl, combine the beef, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and Worcestershire.
-
Mix gently—just enough to combine.
-
Shape into 4 patties about ¾-inch thick.
-
Press a shallow thumb indent in the center so they stay flat while cooking.
2. Cook the Burgers
Grill or Pan:
-
Heat to medium-high.
-
Cook patties 3–4 minutes per side for medium doneness.
-
Add a slice of cheese during the last minute so it melts perfectly.
3. Toast the Buns
-
Lightly butter the buns and toast until golden and crisp on the edges.
4. Assemble Ben’s Burger
-
Spread ketchup, mustard, or mayo on the bottom bun.
-
Add lettuce → patty with melted cheese → tomato → onions → pickles.
-
Top with the bun and serve hot.
Ben’s Tips for a Perfect Burger
-
Use high-fat beef for maximum juiciness.
-
Smoked paprika adds a signature smoky touch.
-
Rest burgers 2–3 minutes before serving.
